Different individuals employ varying yardsticks in judging who is the best among a number of people. While some do that based on the number of accolades each of them have earned, others put underlying factors into consideration.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos in his own assessment of his career has adjudged Unai Emery the best manager he has worked with all his life. From Massimiliano Allegro at AC Milan, Thomas Shaaf at Bremen, as well as Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund, the Greek international feels his new boss tops the list.
The 30-year-old who has become the fans' favourite since joining the club last summer stated that he has stepped up his game at Arsenal more than at previous clubs.
In a chat ahead of the Gunners' Europa League final with Chelsea, Sokratis disclosed why he holds Emery in high esteem.
“He’s the best coach I had in my career,” he told the Guardian. “That’s because I have improved a lot under him. I play faster than one, two or three years ago.
“I think more and I make better decisions and his coaches do a lot of individual work with us. You can also see that because of the number of young players coming through.”
Papa has made a total of 39 appearances for Arsenal and hopefully, that figure will be extended at Baku Azerbaijan on Wednesday night.
