A section of Arsenal fans known as the Cannon Crested group have put forward a proposal to support Henrikh Mkhitaryan in Baku at the Europa League final.
In a tweet made by its handle on Twitter, it was said that should the midfielder be left out of the squad to play Chelsea on May 29, a flashmob should be created to back him.
The possibility of Mhiki missing out is due to a political rift between his country, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The dispute means that anyone from either of these nations cannot travel the other way, hence, the unrest in the player's case.
The former Manchester United man was dropped from the squad that played Qarabag in Baku last year just like it happened in a similar situation while he was still at Borussia Dortmund.
There could be a repeat of that next week even though the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Football Association has guaranteed his safety at the event.
To prepare for the unforseen, it has been suggested that Mkhitaryan masks be made and given to some Arsenal fans who'll wear them in support of him if he happens to miss out.
The statement reads:
If Arsenal go to the Baku without Mkhitaryan due to political reasons, someone needs to:— CanonCrested (@canoncrested) May 16, 2019
1. Create a Mkhitaryan mask
2. Give it to all 6,000 Arsenal fans in the ground
3. Organize for it to be lifted up at the 7th and 77th minute
