Sokratis Papastathopoulos is set to miss two Premier League games for Arsenal as a result of too many booking.
It is the rule that when a player accumulates a total of 10 yellow cards by the end of the second cut-off date which comes on matchday 32, he will be handed a two-match ban.
The Greek defender is known for falling victim of this menace so often and many did not see the possibility of him escaping punishment this time.
In a similar situation last December, the veteran had to be out of the Southampton tie due to the collection of his fifth yellow.
He got his tenth yellow card for holding during our unfortunate 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
This means that the 30-year-old is not eligible for selection when Arsenal head to Vicarage Road to reignite Champions League qualification hopes. He won't be available for Crystal Palace either.
This development is not a good one for our top-four fight being that the pair of Sokratis-Koscielny performs better than one involving Shkodran Mustafi.
Hopefully, we should be able to bounce back from our last league loss, with our 2-0 victory over Napoli acting as catalyst. We cannot afford to fumble once again.
