The football governing body in Europe, UEFA, has stated the possibility of Arsenal getting a reversal in Europa League fixtures.
The Gunners will join seven other teams in Friday's draw where they will find out their opponent for the quarter-final following a 3-0 (4-3 agg) comeback over Rennes on Thursday night.
According to UEFA, Unai Emery's side could face something similar to what happened after the last-16 draw in same competition.
On that occasion, Arsenal's first leg fixture which was meant to hold at the Emirates was switched to France because Chelsea also had a home game on the same night.
Both teams are still in the contest, meaning there would be a repeat of that occurrence if a look-alike of the previous event shows up after the draw.
UEFA's statement reads:
Arsenal FC’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie could potentially be reversed.
Following a decision made by the relevant local authorities, Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC cannot play at home on the same night.
Should both clubs be drawn within the same sequence (home or away), the team having the lower priority — in this case Arsenal FC because Chelsea FC won the FA Cup – will be reversed in accordance with the UEFA Club Competitions Committee principles.
The match schedule for the quarter-finals (including a potential reversal involving Arsenal FC) will be communicated to all parties at approximately 14.45 CET on Friday 15 March.
The calendar for the semi-finals (including a potential reversal involving Arsenal FC, for the same reasons, if both clubs from London are still remaining in the competition) will be communicated to all parties on 20 April at the latest.
For those who would be booking flights as soon as the draw concludes, it is advised that you wait till about an hour and thirty minutes after the draw for any additional announcement or amendment so as not to be caught in the web like the other time.
