One of the reasons for Arsenal's inability to complete a move for Christopher Nkunku on transfer deadline day may not be unrelated to the unfriendly relationship between Thomas Tuchel and Sven Mislintat, David Orstein asserts.
The Gunners, despite their success in securing a loan deal for Denis Suarez still needed to reinforce their midfield, hence their pursuit of Nkunku, Ivan Perisic and Yannick Carrasco.
None of these transfers went through at the close of the day and according to David Orstein of the BBC, Paris Saint Germain's refusal to let go of Nkunku may have been the handwork of manager Tuchel who is believed to be at loggerheads with Mislintat.
“The latest understanding is that Thomas Tuchel has vetoed it," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"He doesn’t want it to happen, he wants Nkunku to be available to him to play, he’s got a lot on the line.
“There is also some politics at play of course.
"There was a tempestuous end to the relationship between Tuchel and (outgoing head of recruitment Sven) Mislintat [at Borussia Dortmund].
This looks more like a situation where you have this friend that snatched your girlfriend and felt no remorse even after you confronted him then happened to come to an organisation where you are boss to seek employment eight months later. Lol! An average human will see that as a revenge opportunity.
Arsenal will face Manchester City on Sunday in a tie which will be of great importance to both sides. While Emery's men are fighting for a Champions League spot for next season, Pep Guardiola's men want the Premier League title.
