A confident and refreshed Arsenal side saw off Bournemouth with a 5-1 win at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Laurent Koscielny, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette all appeared on the score sheet to keep the Gunners' hopes of a top four finish alive.
In the day's starting lineup was Carl Jenkinson - the man that had to park his car as a result of heavy traffic and run to the Emirates Stadium in order to meet up with a pre-match presentation ahead of the Southampton game a few days ago.
The English international's appearance was his first Premier League start in 830 days. His most recent was at Old Trafford on November 19, 2016.
Ozil, Sokratis and Auba also returned to the starting squad while Alex Iwobi and Lacazette dropped to the bench.
Unai Emery's men opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute through the assist king, Ozil. The midfielder finished superbly past the visiting goalkeeper who obviously looked stranded. You need to see how the German kicked the ball against the ground to lob Artur Boruc to the amazement of the crowd
Mkhitaryan picked out an unmarked Mesut Ozil who then returned a perfect ball into his path for the Armenian to finish into the empty net from close range thereby doubling our lead
The Cherries came back at us not long after we extended our lead. It was our 1000th conceded goal in the Premier League but we were still in full control.
The second half had hardly started when the third came in from captain Koscielny. This was possible as a result of a sensational teamplay from Mesut and Micki.
Aubameyang made it four. It was made five by Lacazette's free-kick, giving us all three points for the night. We remain in fourth spot.
Supporters were impressed by Ozil's performance and wasted no time in heaping praise on him on Twitter.
Mesut Ozil's name is being sung loudly by Arsenal fans here at the Emirates. His performance this evening has been superb. On par with his sublime efforts Leicester in October and Napoli in 2013.— Layth (@laythy29) February 27, 2019

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of seeing Mesut Özil score for Arsenal by deliberately kicking the ball into the ground so it loops over the keeper. Ever.— Patrick Timmons (@PatrickTimmons1) February 27, 2019

Mesut Ozil has scored in Carl Jenkinson's last three PL starts at the Emirates. Proof Jenkinson is the key to getting the best out of Ozil.— Richard Jolly (@RichJolly) February 27, 2019
Mkhitaryan balls well anytime there's ozil.— Buchi Laba Laba 🦋🦋🦋 (@Buchi_smallzy) February 27, 2019
Guendouzi plays well anytime there's an ozil..
Iwobi plays well anytime Ozil is on the Pitch.
Attacking wise the Team can't function properly well without Mesut ozil but Unai Emery won't kill his Pride.
He needs to Learn.
If you don't enjoy seeing mesut Ozil with the ball, you aren't made for football ! Man is on form!#ARSBOU— ᴄʏᴍᴏʜ ™ 🇰🇪 ❁ (@ProfCymOhAFC) February 27, 2019
Crazy how much better Mkhitaryan is when Özil is in the side. Mesut really brings out the best in our players, how can Emery ever justify not playing him?— Guy (@Guyzano) February 27, 2019

Sir Mesut Ozil
The comfortable win over Bournemouth will give them the confidence needed to approach the game with their arch-rivals this weekend.
