Arsenal Confirm Successful Hector Bellerin Surgery, Defender Resumes Training

Hector bellerin injury surgery

Hector Bellerin has had a successful surgery as a result of his anterior cruciate ligament injury, according to Arsenal Football Club.

The right back suffered the ugly accident in the 2-0 win over Chelsea two weeks ago. It was a big blow to the player and club because it was his first appearance since suffering a fitness issue earlier in the month.

The problem which required the Spaniard to be stretchered off during that clash will now keep him out for long. He will not play again this season and is expected to miss the start of the 2019/20 season.

Bellerin has now begun his rehabilitation process having gone under the knife in Spain on Wednesday, giving Stephan Lichtsteiner, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Carl Jenkinson the opportunity to fill in in his absence since it is almost sure that there will be no signing in that position in the January transfer window that has just few hours to go.

Laurent Koscielny has returned to training. The Frenchman was taken to hospital when Romelu Lukaku accidentally stepped on his face, leading to his withdrawal from the FA Cup fourth round tie after eight minutes of delay.

It was initially feared that the Arsenal skipper may have broken his jaw but luckily enough, it was just a case of bruising and swelling as disclosed by scans.

Maitland-Niles and Henrikh Mkhitaryan with right knee and right foot injuries respectively are being assessed ahead of the trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City on Super Sunday.

Sokratis will not be back until the end of February while Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding are progressing well though they will not recover in time to feature again this term.
