Unai Emeryhas been placed on the list of bosses to contest for the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month Award for September.
The Spanish international earned himself a place on the nomination list following a superb display by his side in the ninth month of the year. In all four games contested in in the league, the Gunners triumphed, meaning that they lost no point during that time.
Emery, Arsene Wenger’s successor who joined the club back in May shortly after the Frenchman’s departure, bounced back from an ugly start to the season. The 46-year-old had in his first two games which were against Manchester City and Chelsea lost. That was in his first month in the league but in September, he drove Arsenal to four wins against Cardiff City, Newcastle United, Everton and Watford. That was a hundred percent record from him.
Arsenal were able to scoop nine goals from the fixtures highlighted above while keeping two clean sheets in the process.
Also nominated alongside our manager were Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool and Nuno Espirito of Wolverhampton Wanderers. Guardiola recorded four wins just like Unai while the other two had three wins and a draw.
Voting which began last week ended yesterday and we await the final results from the panel of judges.
Arsenal have built on last month’s form as they started October on a high with a whopping 5-1 bashing of Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon. Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both got braces and Aaron Ramsey had one.
