Granit Xhaka has taken to social media to drop an apology to Arsenal fans for an incident that terminated his stay on the pitch during the Burnley match.
The Swiss international's two-footed challenge earned him his second red card of the season from the same referee, Jonathan Moss.
Arsenal took the lead shortly after the break when Shkodran Mustafi headed in a corner kick before Andre Gray equalised for the visitors via a penalty conceded by Francis Coquelin late in the game.
Luckily, the Gunners were able to strike a comeback. This time around, it was Alexis Sanchez's 97th minute spot kick that turned tables.
Knowing fully well the harm his departure caused his team, Xhaka went on Instagram to post a message in which he looked sorry for his action.
Xhaka uploaded the picture below with the caption which read: “So disappointed about the way I left the field, but the team showed strength in the victory 2:1. Let’s look ahead to the next match.
Xhaka will miss Arsenal's next three games, including the trip to Stamford Bridge, if an appeal is not made and honoured.
