Tottenham Legend Slams Arsenal Midfielder's Critics

Tottenham legend, Chris Waddle has incurred the wrath of the club's fans by heaving praise on an Arsenal player just hours to the North-London derby.

Waddle defended Mesut Ozil, claiming that he is at the top of his game contrary to what many have stated about him.

The 27-year-old German international has received mega criticism from various quarters since joining Arsenal. He has been tagged 'slow' and 'lazy' by many but this former Spurs man see all such qualifications as unfair and false.

He told the Daily Mail: “Ozil doesn’t perform and he gets hammered.

“People say he’s lazy, he’s not interested. But what he does is the hardest part of football. What he does is create, he opens the door. That’s why he cost so much, that’s why his team-mates want him in the team.

“It was the same with Dimitar Berbatov, Matt Le Tissier, Glenn Hoddle; I had it. We never get the best of our flair players in this country. I like Ozil, and always have.

“Anyone can organise and compete, stop others playing, block areas off and strangle supply. Judge Ozil on what he was signed to do. If he’s making goals, he’s playing very well.”
