Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema is reportedly keen on an Arsenal switch as he awaits response from Arsene Wenger.
The French striker has been a potential target for the Gunners in recent seasons and it looks as if the time has come for them to make their dreams come to pass as Real Madrid are willing to sell Benzema for £40million.
According to El Confidencial, Arsene Wenger has already talked to the striker over a possible transfer this summer and will be looking to bring him down to the Emirates to step up Arsenal's pursuit of the Premier League title.
Olivier Giroud who is the current top man is not good enough for the job and so many fans have called on the manager to splash the cash in order to secure the services of someone who will make defenders and goalkeepers shiver.
It is believed that Rafa Benitez wants to deploy Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo as top strikers starting from next season. For this reason, Benzema is now surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu and will have to leave if he is to get regular football.
How true is this? Well, Benzema was left out of a friendly game over the weekend while Bale took his place upfront. The new Madrid coach is trying out some experiments ahead of the coming season and if paradventure, things work out as he wants, Benzema will have to depart.
Benzema was willing to join Arsenal when Wenger talked to him about the move. He wants to see as things go in the next few weeks before making up his mind on what to do.
He will be a very good acquisition for the Gunners as his arrival will boost the morale in the team. Fans will surely be happy to see him in the traditional red and white. Manchester United are also believed to be monitoring the striker.
