Arsenal forward, Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi showed some love to each other by embracing before last night's Copa America final clash.
The two were teammmates at Barcelona before Alexis was sold out to Arsenal last summer and as they were preparing to lock horns in order to decide who will go home with the trophy, the two world stars showed mutual respect in the spirit of sportmanship. It was a kind of reunion between the two who were on opposing sides in last night's clash.
Chile came out victorious with Sanchez's last penalty kick while Lionel Messi's Argentina suffered their second final defeat in the space of a year after previously losing the 2014 World Cup final to Germany. It was the first time Chile will win the Copa America since it's inception 99 years ago.
Messi definitely will not have been in the same mood he was at the beginning of the game when the game ended. He had the chance to improve his profile on the international scene but unfortunately, his country's two penalty misses killed off that dream.
The result means that Messi has now been on the wrong end of results in international finals on three occasions; in the 2007 Copa America, 2014 World Cup and again this year.
As for Sanchez, it was a night of joy. He added to his achievements having recently won the FA Cup in May. This triumph will surely be a big boost to Arsenal who will be expecting that the former Barcelona man will start up the 2015/16 season with them.
