Arsenal have been given high hopes in their pursuit of Barcelona star Sergi Samper. This is according to El Confidencial who reported that his father has made contact with the club in order to hasten his son's move to North-London.
Despite his ability to play so well in both the holding and defensive midfield positions, the 20-year-old had been unable to find his way into the already star-flooded midfield at the Camp Nou and for this reason, he is considering a move away from Spain.
Samper came with Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin when they came for trials back then in 2011. Toral and Bellerin ended up signing for the Gunners while Samper said he wanted to remain at Barcelona, a decision he surely will be regreting by now.
Arsenal are now prepared to offer a fee believed to be in the region of £8.4million which is the amount stated in the youngster's buyout clause.
Arsene Wenger has succeeded in snatching youngsters from Barca's academy in the past. We have seen him sign players like Cesc Fabregas, Bellerin and Jon Toral and this one would likely be another success.
