Arsenal are going to miss some of their key players against Newcastle United on Saturday. The greatest concern right now is that majority of them are defenders.
Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out of the clash. How long he will be out is still a mystery as Arsene Wenger says he does not yet know how serious the problem is. Theo Walcott is not expected to make a return in tomorrow's game. He resumed training two days ago but is still short of match fitness.
For Jack Wilshere, there is improvement in his recovery process. The manager said that he is on crutches before going on to play down rumours that the English international has suffered a setback.
"That’s completely wrong. He’s doing very well. He’s on crutches so I don’t see how he can have a setback," said Wenger.
"It’s frustrating because it’s hard enough for Jack to be injured. He doesn’t need the negative news on top of that. It’s always frustrating to deny things that are not true."
Laurent Koscielny's problem with his calf has not healed so he alongside Nacho Monreal [foot] and Calum Chambers who is suspended will all be exempted. Wenger may have to bring in someone who has little experience to replace Koscielny. Gibbs will start at left back. Arteta is still out with a calf strain.
Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud are all fit to start.
