The second half of this season's transfer window is about to open and we have already heard various rumours regarding players who are likely to sign for Arsenal come January. One just came in so we decided to share with you.
According to reports in Brazil, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Spartak Moscow's defensive midfielder, Romulo.
It was earlier reported that the South American who has been under the radar of Arsene Wenger for sometime will be quitting Russia to continue his career in his own continent but the story has changed as he is now believed to be in talks to make a switch to North-London in January.
The 24-year-old is close to sealing a deal which will see him increase the defensive midfield options at the Emirates Stadium. Oh! Did I just say he will increase the options in defensive midfield? Do Arsenal even have any reliable player in that position right now? No.
Romulo has been known to be a player who is capable of initiating attacks from deep, a trait which has been absent in the team since Patrick Vieira departed years ago. If the deal goes through, Arsenal fans will be delighted to see that the major void in their team is getting filled even though the Spartak man is not that kind of star they are expecting to see.
Arsenal will be playing Newcastle United later in the day. You can find out what the team will look like in the absence of some key players>> Arsenal Injury News
